We’ve closed the door on the 2025 NFL Draft, and it was an interesting one to say the least. The Falcons finished the weekend with five newly drafted rookies, and fewer 2026 draft picks after some trade maneuvering.
Defense was clearly the priority, as four of the five players Atlanta drafted are defenders. This team has lacked a consistent pass rush basically since John Abraham, and I have to say, investing two first-round picks in EDGE players is a statement. I’m not sure how I feel about the trade back into the first to get James Pearce Jr., especially considering the Falcons were already missing the pick they lost for tampering with current backup quarterback Kirk Cousins last offseason.
Anyway, all of that aside, we’ve got five new guys on the roster.
- 1.15: Jalon Walker, EDGE, UGA
- 2.26 James Pearce Jr., EDGE, Tennessee
- 3.96 Xavier Watts, S, Notre Dame
- 4.118 Billy Bowman Jr., DB, Oklahoma
- 7.218 Jack Nelson, OT, Wisconsin
My favorite pick is Jalon Walker, and I generally like the rest of them — the Falcons were pretty effective addressing needs with very few picks. Now you tell us: Which one’s your favorite, and which one are you iffy about?
