Report: Miles Robinson Set to Sign With FC Cincinnati

January 4, 2024 by Dirty South Soccer

MLS: MLS Cup Eastern Conference First Round-Game 2-Columbus Crew SC at Atlanta United FC

The time has come

Well, it was only a matter of time anyway.

Tom Bogert just reported that Miles Robinson is set to sign with F.C. Cincinnati after his contract expired with Atlanta United this offseason. The move keeps the USMNT center back front and center in the United States as he likely slots directly into the reigning Supporter’s Shield winner’s lineup.

BREAKING: FC Cincinnati has signed USMNT center back Miles Robinson, per sources.

Best free agent on the market chooses the reigning Supporters’ Shield winners. Huge deal.

Robinson, 26, has 27 caps with USMNT. Had spent whole career with Atlanta United https://t.co/7uGpCFckZS

We’ve reported all season long that Carlos Bocanegra has stated that “the best possible offer” was on the table for Miles, and that the club was “giving him the time he needed” to make a decision. However, it’s also been a solid bet that Miles was looking for a change of scenery as he came off his 2022 season-ending injury that forced him to miss the World Cup last year.

With no offers apparently coming in the summer to attempt to make some gain from a transfer, Atlanta United simply had to settle with letting him go if the offer to Miles wasn’t sufficient. He’ll now be joining fellow defender Matt Miazga as he attempts to make his way back into the USMNT conversation. For their part, Atlanta United has already seen plenty of rumors that we’ve reported on here at DSS for other center backs, notably Stian Gregersen.

The rumor to Cincy began weeks ago, when TQL Stadium was lit up with the words “Miles for Cincy.” Since then, Robinson had posted on his Instagram that he was doing some “soul searching,” which has clearly has culminated in his decision to move northward.

Wishing Miles the absolute best of luck, until he plays Atlanta! Let us know your thoughts below.
