Baumann struck out five across six innings for the GreenJackets.
All but one minor league squad lost on Friday as Augusta rode a solid outing by Garrett Baumann to a win.

Things got off to an inauspicious start for Gwinnett as Stripers starter Zach Logue allowed a two-run homer in the bottom of the first as Norfolk took a 2-0 lead.
Gwinnett got one of those runs back in the top of the third. Luis Liberato laced a two-out double before Phillip Evans singled him home to make it 2-1.
Logue would allow another run to the Tide in the bottom of the second inning as Norfolk extended their lead to 3-1.
Things remained relatively quiet on the offensive front for Gwinnett the rest of the way, as the Stripers tallied just one hit beyond the fifth inning.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Ben Bowden took over on the mound for Logue and allowed a solo homer to make it 4-1. Brian Moran took over in the bottom of the eighth as the Tide notched another solo home run to extend the lead to 5-1, which would hold as the final as the Stripers went down in order in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Mississippi was on the wrong end of a walkoff on Friday as Montgomery scored two runs in the home half to steal a game from the Braves.
Hurston Waldrep got the start for Mississippi and tossed a pair of scoreless innings before allowing Montgomery to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Other than that, Waldrep was solid, striking out five across six innings.
Offensively, Mississippi was limited in the first four frames. However, things finally broke the Braves’ way in the fifth inning.
Bryson Horne notches a one-out single and later advanced to second on a single by Justin Dean. Geraldo Quintero grounded into a forceout before a Nacho Alvarez Jr. single plated Horne and Quintero to make it 2-1 Mississippi.
Hayden Harris came on in relief of Waldrep in the seventh inning and tossed two scoreless frames.
Mississippi’s downfall came in the bottom of the ninth as Trey Riley allowed a pair of runs as Montgomery walked things off by a 3-2 final.

Mississippi starter Spencer Schwellenbach had a bit of a mixed bag of results against Winston-Salem. Across 5.2 innings, Schwellenbach gave up ten hits but struck out six.
Rome jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. Stephen Paolini notched a one-out single and later stole second base and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Adam Zebrowski then singled into left field to make it 1-0 Emperors.
Winston-Salem plated two runs in the bottom of the third inning off of Schwellenbach to take a 2-1 lead over Rome.
Rome retook the lead in the top of the fourth inning. Justin Janas walked before Ambioris Tavarez doubled into center field to plate Janas and tie the game. After Tavarez advanced to third, Carlos Arroyo brought him home on a sacrifice fly to give Rome the 3-2 lead.
Winston-Salem would come back and tie the game, however, in the bottom of the fourth as Schwellenbach one run to make it 3-3.
Winston-Salem retook the lead in the bottom of the fifth, scoring one run to make it 4-3.
The rest of the game, Rome’s offense fell flat despite putting a runner on base in each of the last five innings as the Dash won by a 5-3 final.

Garrett Baumann put up yet another stellar performance for Augusta, continuing his great start to his first full season as a pro.
Before Baumann toed the rubber, his offense got going by providing him some early run support. Luis Sanchez led off the first inning with a single and proceeded to steal second base. Drew Compton then singled into left field to make it 1-0 Augusta.
On the mound, Baumann retired the first ten batters he faced before issuing a walk in the bottom of the fourth inning. Baumann then got a double play to end the inning and continue holding Columbia hitless through four innings.
The GreenJackets tacked on another run in the top of the third as Diego Benitez homered to make it 2-0 Augusta.
The only true blemish on Baumann’s record came in the bottom of the fifth, when he allowed one run as Columbia cut the Augusta lead to 2-1.
After Baumann’s dominant start, Luis Vargas came on and tossed three scoreless innings while striking out three to hold the Fireflies at bay.
Augusta got some insurance runs in the top of the eighth as Drew Compton doubled home Jace Grady to make it 3-1. In the top of the ninth, Grady worked a bases-loaded walk to make it 4-1 before Joe Olsavsky scored on a wild pitch to extend the Augusta lead to 5-1 which would hold as the final.
