Atlanta Braves news and notes from Friday
The Braves may have lost Saturday, but they got yet another strong pitching performance from their starter, as Charlie Morton went 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The team has now gotten 36.2 innings out of the five starters on the roster over the last five games, which is just tremendous. Max Fried’s 9.0 inning Maddux masterpiece was certainly the highlight, but the shortest outing of this turn was 6.2 innings of shutout ball from Bryce Elder, even as it may have been aided by a bit of luck in that first inning to avoid allowing a run. Obviously it all has helped the team have a good chance to win each individual game, but it has saved precious innings on the bullpen, even despite the two extra innings Saturday. Hopefully Bryce Elder can continue this trend tomorrow and help the Braves to a win in the game and the series against Cleveland on Sunday afternoon.
