Former teammates Chris Sale and Nick Pivetta take the mound
The Atlanta Braves look for a two-game sweep tonight as they face Chris Sale’s former team of seven seasons, the Boston Red Sox.
Of all the hitters on Boston’s roster, they collectively have a total of twelve at-bats against Sale, which makes sense since he would not have faced most of them while being on the same team for an extended period of time.
Nick Pivetta has seen the core of the Braves’ lineup quite a bit being a former member of the Phillies. Ozzie Albies and Ronald Acuña are looking to finally get the better of him as they both have struggled to a .446 and .644 OPS respectively. Ozuna on the other hand has seemingly had no problem against Pivetta with four HRs, and a .990 OPS in twenty-four at bats.
Pivetta is making his return after being out over a month with a right elbow flexor strain. Is this the perfect scenario for the Braves’ offense to finally break out?
First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 ET.
