Regardless of how fans or analysts feel about any particular selection, the NFL draft has seven rounds for a reason. Any pick can potentially be a home run or a strikeout, but you can’t get on base without taking a few swings.
In Round 1 of the 2024 NFL draft, the Atlanta Falcons took a big swing by taking Washington quarterback Michael Penix. Those around the league have questioned this selection, however, most of the criticism has been aimed at the front office’s decision to draft Penix after signing quarterback Kirk Cousins to a four-year deal.
